Is This My Life? After a thousand years I opened my eyes to discover That there were people in the room All of them looking down at me Their faces all masks of concern Saying “can you hear me? Can you see my finger? Can you talk to me? Can you move your hand?” And I thought, oh, Is this my life? Wasn’t I someone else Just a short time ago? I must have been sleeping I must have returned from somewhere Is this my hand? Is this my life?

What’s the Matter With You? She had cheeks like a rose, but everybody knows That Sonia was a wild child Sonia was a wild child So her transgressions were compiled She had to make amends, cause when she hugged her friends She didn’t want to let ‘em go She didn’t want to let ‘em go Until her mama told her no Now look at Richard, he’s the perfect little picture Of the way a child ought to be He’s the way a child ought to be And he doesn’t make trouble for me O Sonia, Sonia can’t you see You got to learn to act decently Or they’re never gonna set you free & Sonia, why do you do these things to yourself? Why can’t you act like everybody else? What’s the matter with you? So Sonia was cool until she saw him after school Then she threw Richard in the bay She threw Richard in the bay Then Sonia had to go away The judge said “I understand she’s completely out of hand So we’ve got to do what we should We’ve got to do what we should She’s a danger to the public good” Then Sonia was in juve, but she made an angry move So they put her in a padded cell They put her in a padded cell It was a tiny perfect hell CHORUS & everybody said, when they found her dead That Sonia was a wild child Sonia was a wild child So her transgressions were compiled

Ned’s Adventures It is the time when all children should be safe in bed Not so our friend Ned He’s looking in gutters and drainpipes for signs of the dead He’s plying with sensitive fingers The muck that is lying in unexplored places No one but Ned would ever think to look there No one has any idea what Ned’s been up to They think he’s just blue They think that it’s all just a phase that some children go through They don’t realize the potential That Ned has achieved with his engine of night No one knows Ned is doing anything right Ned, Ned, will we regret the disparaging things that we said? Will your vengeance come crashing down on our heads When you’ve become a plague to us all? We may finally lose count Of the bodies that once hosted quick human souls As Ned marches forward with his army of trolls It is the time when all children should be safe in bed Not so our friend Ned…

Jory Jory was an outlaw, don’t know exactly why He’d turn his TV up when the Witnesses came by And there never was a gentleman like Jory, Jory And there never was a gentleman like Jory, Who never did tell a lie Jory he went walking on a Sunday afternoon A spaceship picked him up and he landed on the moon And there never was an astronaut like Jory, Jory And there never was an astronaut like Jory, We hope he’ll be back soon Jory he walked in to the stock market one day Bought seven shares of Exxon and gave the company away And there never was a big tycoon like Jory, Jory And there never was a big tycoon like Jory, To make the markets pay

A Cloud Took Me Away We all walked to the foot of the cliff Stood in its shade in morning light The sea was wrinkled and clouds were swift The air was cool, the sun was bright I said to Jane are you happy now? She said you never can be sure The matchstick boy knelt down by a pool & glowered up at me with a look so pure Then a cloud took me away Don’t know how it happened but the next I saw They were small down on the bay I was floating high above them all Watched them suddenly start to move Crowd around someone lying there I couldn’t tell exactly who it was From where I floated I didn’t care I kept on rising into the sun Silent voices in my ears Some of them calm saying don’t be afraid Some of them sudden and quick with fear A cloud took me away Like a gentle hand on my brow Into the brilliance of the day It was all familiar somehow A cloud took me away To a shining temple in the air Into the brilliance of the day To a quiet place somewhere
